The Faces of Waves

When

Wednesdays to Fridays, 12pm to 6pm Weekends, 10am to 5pm Friday 30 August 2024 to Sunday 8 September 2024

Based on the east coast of Tasmania / lutruwita, Kerri Kennewell derives inspiration for her bold, lyrical acrylic canvases from her surrounding environment, capturing the character and vivacity of the rolling swells of the Tasman sea.

Her current Waves series celebrates the unbridled power and beauty of the ocean and tidal processes, making a record of the formation and cycle of a swell, a wave, capturing a fleeting moment in the life of an ocean increasingly vulnerable to the influence of humanity. The action of waves frozen in time becomes almost hypnotic, a repetition wherein to dwell upon questions of life, originating in the saline depths of primordial seas, and upon which we continue to rely as a species, ignoring to our collective peril.
