R U OK? Day 2023

When

Wednesday 13 September from 10am to 12pm

R U OK Day 2023 is our national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, ‘Are you OK?’ and start a meaningful conversation whenever they spot the signs that someone they care about might be struggling with life.

Chair yoga is a great way for older adults to get the wonderful health benefits of yoga. It also makes yoga accessible to more people.

Staying seated while doing yoga means that even frail seniors or those who aren’t flexible can safely do the exercises.

The benefits of chair yoga for older adults includes loosening and stretching painful muscles, reducing chronic pain, decreasing stress, and improving circulation.

It also reduces anxiety, helps lower blood pressure, protects joints, and builds strength and balance.

Learn and practise some useful relaxation and mindfulness techniques.

Morning tea provided. Everyone is welcome.

We aim to deliver inclusive and accessible events. If you have any particular access or communication needs please contact the Community Services Worker at Ron Williams Community Centre on 02 9265 9180 or email Jchen2@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au.

The Ron Williams Community Centre is open Monday to Friday 9:30am to 3:30pm. We have free computers, scanners, wifi, snooker and table tennis. You can help yourself to tea, coffee and biscuits, and borrow books. We offer weekly activities, such as English conversation and computer tech help. Explore the whole program.
