Make a Rag Rug with Vita Cochran

When

Saturday 6 July from 12:30pm to 3:30pm

Cost

Ticket: $90.00

Heading into winter Australian Design Centre presents a series of workshops designed to make space for healing through making. A fast paced world with a relentless news cycle can feel overwhelming. Making may be the antidote you need to change pace. In this workshop participants will learn new skills for slow making by hand.

Make a handmade rug using recycled woollen materials with textile artist Vita Cochran. Vita will share the history of hooked rag rugs. A selection of Vita’s rugs will be on display for inspiration.

This workshop is designed for all skills levels including beginners. Participants will learn how to source and prepare materials. All materials will be provided to start a small, hooked rug to finish at home.

About Vita Cochran

Vita Cochran is a textile artist whose work includes handbags made from repurposed climbing rope to large scale fabric abstractions and hand-hooked rag rugs. She is currently artist-in-residence at UTS library where she is embroidering realistic moths into the library furnishings.
