Starting an Indigenous business workshop

Monday 20 May 2024 from 10:30am to 12:30pm Monday 3 June 2024 from 10:30am to 12:30pm

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people interested in starting a business are invited to join this free workshop to help gain skills and confidence. The sessions are facilitated by an experienced Indigenous business consultant and Supply Nation advisor for Indigenous Business Australia.

Over 2 sessions you'll learn the fundamentals of setting up and managing your own successful small business.

Workshop 1

  • The importance of market research

  • Australian regulatory bodies and industry regulators

  • Business structure options

  • Business registration obligations (what you must do)

  • Statutory obligations (what you must know)

  • Operational obligations (what you should do)

  • Business support available

Workshop 2

  • Basic financial terminology

  • Compliance and record keeping

  • Fundamentals of marketing

  • Developing your marketing strategy

Participants will receive a workbook with tasks to complete over the 2 sessions.

Bookings and a commitment to attend both sessions are essential. You must be 18 years or over to attend.
