Monday 2 June from 4pm to 5pm
This National Reconciliation Week, join Health Consumers NSW & the Association for the Wellbeing of Children in Healthcare as we launch the Collaborate & Connect Toolbox for non-Indigenous healthcare organisations to better engage with First Nations young people in the design and delivery of their work, from engagement processes to service provision and beyond.
The Collaborate & Connect project partnered with young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to discuss, envision and develop a foundation of knowledge and resources for non-Indigenous healthcare organisations to better engage with young First Nations people in the design & delivery of their work. A partnership between HCNSW, AWCH, and a small group of First Nations young people (aged 14-25), the project aimed to create a collaborative, safe, and welcoming space for the young people to share their lived experiences, insights, opinions, and ideas for non-Indigenous organisations to improve their work with First Nations young people.
The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2025, Bridging Now to Next, “calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.” Collaborate & Connect contributes to this by providing unique insight into the specific experiences of First Nations young people engaging with non-Indigenous organisations, and offering a framework for these organisations (including ours) to improve.
This webinar will be of interest to those who work with First Nations young people across all sectors (not just healthcare!). The Toolbox is intended to be of use to non-Indigenous staff and organisations, however First Nations staff and organisations may be interested to hear what young people are saying about engagement with non-Indigenous organisations.
