Sunday 30 July 2023 from 1:30pm to 4pm
Learn the basics of working with clay in this 6-week Sunday afternoon course. Our expert tutor will guide you in building these practise-oriented skills, so you can construct ceramic forms both at the wheel and using handbuilding techniques.
You’ll have the opportunity to create functional vessels each lesson and will learn important principles of clay technology. You will explore artistic techniques such as pinch potting, coiling and slab building. You’ll also learn how to apply slips, glazes, and other surface treatments such as sgraffito and wax resist.
This course takes place on Sunday over 6 weeks:
Week 1: 30 July, 1.30pm to 4pm
Week 2: 6 August, 1.30pm to 4pm
Week 3: 13 August, 1.30pm to 4pm
Week 4: 20 August, 1.30pm to 4pm
Week 5: 27 August, 1.30pm to 4pm
Week 6: 3 September, 1.30pm to 4pm
Intimate class size: maximum 10 students.
Level: designed for beginner to intermediate level students 16+yrs
Wear: comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes.
Bring: please bring your own apron and towel.
All pieces created in the course must be no more than 25 cubic centimetres. Your works will be fired and ready to collect around 3 weeks after the course. We’re unable to fire pieces made outside of the course.
