As our Artist In Focus for June, we have had the pleasure of interviewing Sydney-based multi-disciplinary artist, Mylyn Nguyen.
While developing a new body of work, Mylyn has given us a glimpse into her miniature world in the lead up to an exhibition at Bankstown Arts Centre this July. Mylyn’s works will take us through the buildings in and around Saigon Place, the Vietnamese restaurants, hot bread shops, variety stores and doctor surgeries.
Sydney-based multi-disciplinary artist Mylyn Nguyen has developed several solo exhibitions with MAY SPACE and it’s previous iterations that have humorously explored her childhood memories and curiosities. These comprehensive bodies of work — along with several smaller projects — have varied in appearance, approach, and materials, yet all are imbued with incredible skill and wondrous imagination which continue to extend the sense of spectacle and intrigue that her artworks generate.
The artist in focus will show glimpses of new work for her exhibition, as well as interviews and videos which give an insight into how Mylyn creates her works.
