Improve your knowledge and skills in building operational and organisational capabilities for your organisation. These workshops are part of City of Sydney's Connect Sydney program and presented by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and facilitators.

The free training and development opportunities are available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people engaged in the community, not-for-profit, charitable and other social purpose organisations that operate in or service the City of Sydney’s local area.

Workshop topics and dates:

Trauma informed careWednesday 22 November 9am to 3:30pm

Presented by Mirri-Mirri

Explore past government policies that resulted in the removal of Aboriginal children from their families. Through this journey, you’ll gain a greater awareness and understanding of transgenerational trauma and responses that promote healing for Stolen Generation survivors and their descendants. Key focus areas for the full-day workshop include unconscious bias, minimising trauma in the workplace, protection policies and ongoing impacts of trauma.

Media and marketing strategy – Wednesday 29 November 9am to 3:30pm

Cultivate a culture that welcomes uncertainty, empowering both the organisation and its employees to adopt innovative perspectives. Recognise and analyse proven initiatives from the past and present, and forecast their potential applicability in the future. Harness strategic thinking for effective decision-making, focusing on marketing approaches within a social entrepreneurship framework. Formulate learning approaches and techniques to stimulate stakeholders' entrepreneurial ambitions and foster their innate curiosity.

Discover the qualities and practices of effective leaders and gain a better understanding the roles and responsibilities of the emerging leaders team. Discussion topics include areas teamwork, motivation, competence, skills, responsibility, communication, power and support.
