William Kentridge returns to Australia for his twelfth solo exhibition with Annandale Galleries. Following the artist’s showing of Waiting for the Sibyl held at Sydney Opera House last November, we are delighted to announce a major display of new sculptures, drawings, prints and film.
“I was thinking about objects that turn, and in a moment of turning they lose their abstraction and find a moment of coherence – as if the world shatters, and turns, finds a logic, and then passes by.” – William Kentridge, from To What End, delivered November 2023, Sydney Opera House
“…we get a kind of phrase or rubric in bronze, not a clear meaning – but a push towards an illegible comprehensibility. It’s a riddle which has no answer, but which intrigues us precisely because it has no clear solution.” – William Kentridge on the artist's ‘glyphs’, Lapis Lazuli (Lecture No.2) from the Slade Lectures, University of Oxford 2024
