The Sydney Skinny

The World Famous Sydney Skinny is an untimed, open water, nude swim in beautiful Sydney Harbour.

In a sometimes depressing and cynical world it is wonderful to have the opportunity to break with our usual routines and do something slightly challenging that is both utterly positive and uplifting.

The Sydney Skinny (TSS) is the world’s only open water nude swim. This unique, much-loved event takes place each year in beautiful Sydney Harbour. After a Covid hiatus it's back in 2023.

The event actually has nothing to do with being seen naked or seeing other people naked - indeed we go to great lengths to protect people’s modesty with our famous Sydney Skinny sarongs. (The event is fully clothed - it is only the swim, held on the secluded, non-spectator beach that is nude).

This is simply a joyous community event - one that has an incredibly special, friendly, inclusive, supportive and relaxed vibe.

Beyond having the time of your life at the swim, we want the event to have a lasting effect beyond the day itself - we want to spread joy, kindness, acceptance, courage and community spirit into the world - it leaves us feeling a bit more grateful and counting our blessings.

The Skinny began in 2013 and celebrating it's tenth birthday. Many of those who took the plunge with us in 2013 are still swimming.

This year our charity partner is Skin Check Champions and raise funds and awareness for skin cancer.
