The Shak at the Edge Sydenham

Where
53 Railway Rd
Sydenham NSW 2044
Basketball Courts at Sydenham Green
When

Saturday 19 August 2023 from 12pm to 5pm

We are inviting all young artists, builders and designers 7-16 years of age from Sydney's Inner West and surrounding areas to help us build The Shak at The Edge.

As some of the most engaging personalities in the community, you are invited to collaborate with professional artists and facilitators to design an installation inspired by the vivid and colourful textile industry that helped to create Sydenham.

As the lead artists you will enter the factory floor where you will take your tool test, be granted your builders licence, move onto the design studio and then with your design in hand hit the building site. Here you will be scaffolded by the professional artists and facilitators as you design and build your own village. Using locally sourced recycled timbers, pallets and fabrics, you will build installations that share your ideas of how this industry helped to create the community of Sydenham for the Edge Sydenham 2023, funded by the Inner West Sydney Council and Create NSW.
