Talk: Tracing the written line

When

Wednesday 28 May from 11am to 12:30pm

Join us for a thought-provoking discussion on the future of written communication presented by Powerhouse volunteers.

The talk examines the ways in which humans have developed systems to record, preserve, and share their stories. Delve into the evolution of writing tools and surfaces from the earliest marks etched into clay in ancient Mesopotamia to the symbolic elegance of Egyptian hieroglyphs and the art of Chinese calligraphy.

As the conversation shifts to the present, the focus turns to the dramatic shift brought by digital communication, questioning what might be lost as keyboards and screens replace pen and paper.

As we move further into the digital age, are we preserving the legacy of the written word—or are we at risk of forgetting it altogether?

Morning tea is provided and bookings are recommended.
