Friday 12 July from 7pm to 8:45pm
Silent Meditation from 7 - 7.30 pm, Discussion from 7.30 pm
Next Event: Discussion Themes:
Mirroring & Emotional Contagion: We inherited so much from our hunter-gatherer ancestors, including their deep need for survival—to connect with the tribe deeply. From that need arose our instinctual feelings of empathy, imitation, and the need to belong, to ‘fit in.’ Yoga-Vedanta goes deeper: ‘We perceive the other person as “me in another form”—the same awareness functioning through another body and mind.’
Memory Salience: It’s not surprising to know that emotionally laden experiences are those that our memory prefers to preserve. Yoga-Vedanta sees memory as recycled conscious thought, and that to connect with the underlying awareness/ consciousness within us, we need to ‘extract ourselves from the clutches of memory.’
Discussions led by Pravrajika Gayatriprana, senior nun of Ramakrishna Order & Robert Grant, Meetup Group organiser and meditation teacher.
