St James’ Music presents Serenade & Symphony, a rare and vibrant collaboration between the Sydney Symphony Fellows and the Choir of St James’.
Youthful brilliance meets choral tradition in the luminous acoustic of St James’ Church as some of Sydney’s most exciting emerging instrumentalists join forces with one of its finest choral ensembles.
At the heart of the program is Bach’s Magnificat, a work of exhilarating energy and radiant joy, bursting with colour and virtuosity. Poulenc’s Organ Concerto follows, its striking contrasts and haunting lyricism perfectly suited to the grandeur of St James’ new Bicentennial Pipe Organ.
Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music completes the evening, a deeply expressive homage to the beauty of sound itself, weaving voices and instruments into a glowing, transcendent tapestry.
This concert offers more than a program of beloved works; it’s a meeting of generations, a shared musical conversation, and a chance to hear these masterpieces anew in an intimate setting that brings performers and audience into close connection.
Join us for an evening of unforgettable music-making in one of Sydney’s most historic spaces.
