This workshop offers an approachable introduction to Japanese matcha and tea culture, hosted in collaboration with a certified table-style tea ceremony instructor, Kaori Sunami and Tokyo Handa-En Australia, a long-established Japanese tea specialist.
What to Expect: Participants will be guided through the basics of Japanese tea culture in a relaxed, table-style setting.
Introduction: Learn the history of Japanese tea and an overview of chado (the way of tea).
Knowledge: Discover what matcha is and how it is traditionally enjoyed.
Hands-on Experience: Learn how to prepare matcha step by step. You will have the opportunity to whisk and taste your own bowl of organic matcha.
Tea & Sweets: Enjoy authentic Japanese wagashi (traditional sweets) carefully selected to complement your matcha. You will learn about the craftsmanship behind these sweets and how they enhance the overall tea experience.
Session Times (Monday, 26 January 2026 - Public Holiday):
Session 1: 10:00 – 11:30
Session 2: 14:30 – 16:00 (Family-Friendly Session - suitable for families with children aged 4+).
Each session is limited to 8 participants.
