Step into a world of magic, mystery and imagination as Australian pianist Andrew Rumsey reunites with Swiss-Croatian pianist Ivan Horvatic for Magic, Spells, and Other Worlds.
Performed four hands at a single piano, this spectacular program brings some of classical music’s most vivid stories to life — from the fairy-tale enchantment of Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite and the eerie midnight revelry of Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre, to Grieg’s mysterious Peer Gynt, Mussorgsky’s terrifying Night on Bald Mountain and the runaway magic of Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
Friends and musical collaborators since meeting at the Atlantic Music Festival in Maine in 2017, Rumsey and Horvatic have since performed together across Europe. Horvatic now returns to Australia for only the second time in eight years.
Expect witches, skeletons, sorcerers, fairy tales — and twenty fingers sharing one piano — in a concert designed to delight seasoned concertgoers and curious newcomers alike.
