Introduction to brush calligraphy

Welcome to our next creative escape.

Join me for a warm, low-pressure afternoon exploring the beautiful, meditative art of brush calligraphy. If you have ever wanted to create those gorgeous, sweeping letters but didn't know where to start, this is the perfect place for you.

And here is the best secret about brush calligraphy: you do not need good handwriting to be good at it! Brush calligraphy is just a series of simple, repetitive shapes. We leave perfection at the door here. Wobbly lines are just part of the learning journey, and this space is all about playing and having fun.

What we’ll be doing

During our time together, we will start from the very beginning. I will guide you through:

• How to properly hold and use a brush pen.

• The fundamental basic strokes (learning the magic of thin upstrokes and thick downstrokes).

• How to connect those basic shapes to form letters and words.

• Designing and lettering a beautiful, custom heavy-cardstock bookmark to take home.
