Award-winning theatre company Secret House presents the Australian premiere of Alan Harris’ Bruntwood Prize winning How My Light is Spent - A heartfelt and hilarious exploration of loneliness, connection and hope.

11 - 26 September 2026 | KXT on Broadway

Every Wednesday evening, Jimmy calls Kitty. For precisely nine minutes. Jimmy is 34, lives with his mum and works at a drive-through doughnut restaurant. Kitty is an adult chatline operator, living in the granny flat of a topiary enthusiast. It’s an unlikely connection, but for Jimmy, things are finally looking up. Then he loses his job. And starts to disappear - starting with his hands. Funny, surreal and unexpectedly moving, Alan Harris’ How My Light is Spent is a tender story about loneliness, desire and the need to be seen.

Following it's critically aclaimed UK run, Secret House brings this quirky, charming and heartfelt story to Australian audiences for the first time.
