Over the weekend, you’ll make your own custom setting tool and work with a comprehensive kit of provided tools and materials. You’ll learn how to accurately measure your stones and select the appropriate burs and tools to prepare precise seats for setting.
The course includes guided practice in Gypsy (flush) setting on a copper sample piece before progressing to set multiple stones of varying colours and sizes into a sterling silver ring (included). You’ll also learn how to refine and finish your piece, ensuring your Gypsy-set ring is beautifully cleaned up and ready to wear.
Time permitting, some students may begin a second jewellery piece — such as a pendant or earrings — to further consolidate their skills.
Please note: some prior jewellery-making experience is a prerequisite for this workshop, as participants are expected to be confident with fundamental bench skills and studio tools.
