This workshop will guide both the beginner and the more experienced artist through the process involved in working with clay from the life model.
As well as helping students develop their skills in modelling the figure, Jenny will encourage students to push their work beyond a merely faithful representation of the body and develop a more personal language or means of expression.
“Although the body has been a constant and enduring subject of artistic expression, the various ways in which the body is described continues to evolve as inevitably as our understanding of the world changes. As an artist I am interested in exploring the ways in which we give voice to our experience, and my main interest as a teacher is to encourage students to develop their own sculptural language.” – Jenny Pollak
During the 10 week course students will have time to bring their work to a point where it is ready to be fired, exploiting the facility and beauty of clay as a material that can be transformed from the raw and impermanent to a final and enduring sculptural piece.
