Ceramics: beginner wheel throwing and handbuilding (Sundays)

Our expert tutor will guide you in building practise-oriented skills, so you can construct ceramic forms both at the wheel and using hand-building techniques. 

You’ll have the opportunity to create functional vessels each lesson and will learn important principles of clay technology. You will explore artistic techniques such as pinch potting, coiling and slab building. You’ll also learn how to apply slips, glazes, and other surface treatments such as sgraffito and wax resist.  

This course takes place on Sundays over 6 weeks:  

  • Week 1: 11 February, 1:30pm to 4pm 

  • Week 2: 18 February, 1:30pm to 4pm 

  • Week 3: 25 February, 1:30pm to 4pm 

  • Week 4: 3 March, 1:30pm to 4pm 

  • Week 5: 10 March, 1:30pm to 4pm 

  • Week 6: 17 March, 1:30pm to 4pm

Small class size: maximum 10 students.  

Level: designed for beginner level students 16+yrs 

Wear: comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes (trousers recommended)  

Bring: please bring your own apron and towel 

Your works will be fired and ready to collect around 4 weeks after the course. We are unable to fire pieces made outside of the course.
