In this series of 3 classes, you'll learn wheel throwing, trimming, and glazing basic cylinders. The classes are relaxed and perfect for beginners - you won't feel rushed at all.

You'll get detailed demonstrations, and lots of feedback wherever you need it; the classes are deliberately kept small so that you get enough attention from the teacher.

The finished (fired) pottery you make will be yours to keep. You'll create cylindrical ceramics, which could be any of the following (or even something different - let your imagination run wild!):

  • Bowls and plates

  • Mugs and cups

  • Stationary/cutlery holders

  • Planters or vases

  • Food bowl for your pet

  • Candle holder

Most students will create three different objects. Will yours be elegant? A bit crazy? Clever? Exploring themes from your childhood or your travels? Something unexpected? We can't wait to see what you'll make.

Each class is two hours long, and you'll enjoy one class per week, for three weeks - this allows enough time for drying and firing your pieces in between the classes. Note that you must attend the same time slot for the subsequent two weeks. E.g. if your first class is on 1st Jan, your second must be on 8th Jan, and your third must be 15th Jan. This is is because the students you'll be learning with in each workshop will all be at the same learning stage as you.
