"What if our world today were already infiltrated by alien agents? Numinous beings dispatched from far beyond the horizons of a great unknown, crossing imperceptible dimensions in spacetime to be born amongst us here on Earth. Their mission? To observe the horrors of human love."
— albumX
Tamil-Australian vocalist, composer and writer Magickal Ms. G fuses jazz, blues, neo-soul and Dravidian rhythms to explore love, displacement and colonial legacy. Her wry lyricism, haunting melodies and genre-bending sound worlds, create an otherworldly fusing of sci-fi narrative and political sad-girl pop. Premiering at PACT, Erskineville, over four nights in November, agent X marks an ambitious expansion of Magickal Ms. G's musical practice into immersive multi-disciplinary work with her 10-piece band, The Planet Nines.
Led by director, Joe Paradise Lui, an all-star team of creatives will bring to life the visual world of our alien protagonist agent X: Nema Adel (Projection Design), Fausto Brusamolino (Lighting Artist), Keerthi Subramanium (stage design), Yuzhen Wang (wardrobe) and Gabriela Loza (archival research/editing).
This special performance offers audiences an exclusive first glimpse into the visual and sonic world of her forthcoming debut: albumX (due for release: 30 October, 2026), produced by ARIA Award-winner Emily-Rose Sarkova and recorded with some of Australia's finest jazz musicians. albumX, introduces the world of agent X, our mysterious alien protagonist navigating the complexities of human emotion.
Moving between soaring vocals, hypnotic grooves, exuberant improvisation and moments of quiet vulnerability, agent X invites audiences to piece together a mysterious transmission as its protagonist searches for home, memory and self in an alien world.
