Sunday 15 August 2021 from 11am to 12pm
Join us at the Sydney Jewish Museum to hear Holocaust survivor and bestselling author Eddie Jaku OAM tell his life story as the self-proclaimed “Happiest Man on Earth”.
Eddie, now 101 years young, was born in Leipzig, Germany in 1920. He was deported to Buchenwald in November 1938 and thereafter to camps in Belgium, France and Poland between 1939-1945 but he managed to survive through many miracles.
Eddie, his wife and his young son immigrated to Australia in 1950.
After a long silence of approximately 30 years, Eddie began telling his story and has been a volunteer at the Sydney Jewish Museum since its inception in 1992. He has told his story of survival to thousands of students and adults, and many more around the world have read his memoir published in 2020.
Eddie received an OAM in 2013 for service to community.
