The Paddington Art Prize is a $30,000 national acquisitive prize, now in its 20th year for a painting inspired by the Australian landscape; founded & principally sponsored by Marlene Antico OAM and co-sponsored by Chris Antico since 2017.

Additional 7 non-acquisitive awards: $3000 Honorable Mention, $3000 Highly Commended, Cooee Art Leven Gallery Award, Anthea Polson Gallery Award, James Makin Gallery Award, People's Choice Award & Al Stretchers Award

2023 judges:

  • Tony Costa (2014 Paddington Art Prize & 2019 Archibald Prize Winner)

  • Tracey Cooper-Lavery (Director of HOTA Gallery, QLD)

  • Adj. Professor Margo Ngawa Neale (Head: Centre for Indigenous Knowledges, Senior Indigenous Curator & Executive Advisor to the Director, National Museum of Australia)

The 20th annual exhibition of national finalists will be held at Cooee Art Gallery, 17 Thurlow St, Redfern, NSW, 2016. The gallery space is generously sponsored by gallery owner/director Mirri Leven.

  • Opening night and prize presentation: Thursday 12 October, 6pm - 8pm

  • Exhibition dates: 12 - 22 October, 11am-5pm
