Grab your Santa hat – and your sunscreen – because it’s time to celebrate a summer Christmas. Here are some of the best ways to get festive in Sydney.
Christmas in the City
Christmas in Sydney officially begins when the heart of the city centre comes alive with roaming entertainers, choirs, lights and decorations. Don’t miss Christmas in the City on 24 November. It all kicks off as we launch the fireworks and flick the switch at 8:30pm on the Martin Place Christmas tree. Kids’ entertainers will be on the street starting the party.
Santa will be arriving in his brand new sleigh to say hello, while charity Santa stockings packed with goodies will be on sale for $5. Treat yourself to gelato at GPO Grand’s Pop Up Dessert Bar, back for its 5th year. The KIIS 1065 Thunderbirds invite you to eat, play and share with games and treats for everyone.
Christmas in Green Square
For the first time ever, Christmas in Green Square will transform the area into a wonderland of festive fun. A who’s who of children’s performers will take to the stage on Sunday 2 December. Little ones can also get involved in crafts, table tennis and games with our Christmas elves.
Look out for an appearance from Santa before the night ends in a glittering firework display!
Lights of Christmas
A spectacular light and sound show will illuminate St Mary’s Cathedral for a favourite Christmas tradition. The Lights of Christmas will be the home of nightly choir performances and kaleidoscope projections that light the skies until midnight.
Sydney Christmas Children’s Concert
Jingle all the way at the free family-friendly children’s concert at Surry Hills. Sing along, play giant Jenga with the elves and meet Santa.
Village Christmas Concerts
Enjoy festive carols and choir performances
Carols in the Domain
Get into the spirit of the season at Australia’s largest Christmas event. Carols in the Domain returns for its 36th year on 22 December.
Christmas Wonderland at Sydney Showground
Escape the heat of a Sydney summer and enter a wintery world at Christmas Wonderland at Sydney Showground. There’ll be ice skating, photos with Santa, rides and one very impressive giant slide.
