Friday 27 June from 4pm to 5:30pm
Join us to recognise the 50th anniversary of the historic Woolloomooloo tripartite agreement, officially signed on 27 June 1975. This groundbreaking commitment made between the City of Sydney, the NSW Government and the Australian Government, protected public housing and public land in Woolloomooloo from redevelopment.
The agreement arose from grassroots community action in the face of gentrification and redevelopment pressures. Local public housing residents and low-income workers came together to defend their homes and their right to stay in the neighbourhood. Their courage and determination paved the way for a more inclusive approach to city planning and urban renewal.
Everyone is welcome to come together for a community afternoon tea in Woolloomooloo honouring this important moment in our history, with Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore AO and the Member for Sydney, Alex Greenwich MP.
RSVPs are essential. You can RSVP online or call Juanita Nielsen Community Centre on 02 9265 9146.
