Woman, an intangible thought that now dangles in the air like a wisp of smoke or stands like a mountain clouded in mist.
Local artists Patricia Ford and Beatrice McBride use painting and traditional women's crafts to explore the experience of women and celebrate of the female form through visual metaphors.
Patricia Ford is a graduate of COFA, now the school of Art And Design, UNSW. Her work is autobiographical in nature and explores themes of sexuality, trauma, relationships and human nature. It speaks of her own experience but reaches out to find a common thread to all human experience.
Beatrice McBride is a bit of a slashy. She is an actress/playwright, soon to debut her first show, “Freakshow” at this year’s Sydney Fringe Festival. She is also a artist preferring to work with her hands, and traditional women’s arts and craft methods such as sewing. Beatrice has exhibited work as part of several larger group shows and for charity fundraising events/shows. This is her first joint show with Patricia Ford.
