Every day, 12am to 1am Wednesday 15 February to Tuesday 21 February
OpenAir Cinema is an unforgettable moment in each Sydney summer.
Set on Mrs Macquaries Point against a backdrop that spans the Opera House, Harbour Bridge and city skyline, OpenAir is a festival of film and food, and a celebration of summer in the wonderful city we call home.
From early evening we create a spectacular al fresco dining and bar experience on the harbour’s edge. The atmosphere is abuzz as up to a thousand friends, first-dates, partners and colleagues share the stunning sunset views. Leading local restauranteur Mike McEnearney (Kitchen by Mike) cooks up a diverse range of summer menus across three dining spaces, seating 1200 guests. An offering of entrees, mains and snacks is accompanied by a long list of premium quality beverages including champagne, wine, cocktails, beer and non alcoholic favourites.
Then, at dusk, our giant screen is hydraulically raised to stand three-storeys-high over Sydney Harbour, signalling the start of something extraordinary.
Dolby digital surround sound, 4k projection and comfortable seating for 1650 guests create a premium cinema experience.
The film program is positioned as a festival of film, and those who’ve strutted our red carpet include Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Simon Baker, Eric Bana, Hugo Weaving, Mia Wasikowska, and Oscar-winning directors Jane Campion and Danny Boyle.
In 2023 we expect to be joined by yet more film industry luminaries as we present our 26th Sydney season over 40 nights, commencing January 8, and reaching its end on 21 February. Films you can expect to see include Avatar - The Way Of Water, Mrs Harris Goes To Paris, Don't Worry Darling, Banshees Of Inisherin, and What's Love Got To Do With It.
Tickets on sale on Westpac Openair website from 12 December.
