Due to overwhelming demand, The Steam Room is bringing an encore performance of their sold out night of science and comedy!

The Sydney Comedy Festival is proud to present, The Steam Room: A Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Maths (STEAM) themed comedy night!

Our crack-team of scientists, headlined by legendary Science-Daddy to us all, Dr Karl, have been in comedy training over the past months to turn their research into stand-up sets! Explore the science behind spider orgies, hydroponic lettuce start-ups, and collecting bat poo from around the world – nothing is off limits! They will share the stage with some of Sydney’s hottest comedians, as they explore the hilarious wonders of science!

The Scientists:

  • Isabelle Capell-Hattam (UNSW)

  • Michelle Power (Macquarie University)

  • Anastasia Shavrova (UNSW)

  • Samantha Young (Panwar Health)

  • Luke Steller (UNSW)

  • Giselle Dreyer (Sydney University)

  • Simone Herrmannsen (Vertical Patch)

The comedians: TBA!

This event is produced by scientist Luke Steller (UNSW and Praxical), and comedians Ru Halwala and Tom Stevenson (Scary Strangers) who will also be your MCs for the night!

This event is only made possible with the generous support from Inspiring NSW.

This event takes place on the land of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the custodians and first scientists of Australia. We will be donating 10% of our profit to Deadly Science, an awesome charity working to provide STEM resources to schools across Australia.
