Tiliqua Tiliqua is proud to be bringing you Matt Spierings' first solo exhibition.

Matt writes, 'There's a stillness in printmaking that I don't find in most places. The path is the goal is a celebration of that stillness.

For my first solo exhibition, I wanted to curate a show that's as much a celebration the peace I find within the process of printmaking, as the prints that come out of the process. Whilst this isn’t specifically a ‘mental health’ show, my experience with my own mental health is irrevocably tied to the prints on display. The tactile nature of printmaking has given me space from a brain that never stops, thoughts that have long overstayed their welcome, and worn-out definitions of who I am as a human being.

I find that the slow and repetitive process of printmaking has given me powerful lessons (albeit sometimes challenging, or frustrating lessons) about spending more time in the ups and downs of life, leaning into the unexpected, and celebrating the journey of living, seeing where I have come from and where I’m going, rather than focusing on an ideal life.'

Join us for opening drinks 4–8pm Thursday 23 May.
