Sydney was chosen to be the futuristic simulated computer world in the Matrix Trilogy by The Wachowskis to closely resemble their hometown Chicago.
Those who take the blue pill live blissfully and unaware of their cyber prison and wouldn’t notice significant film locations if they were looking at them.
For the adventurous ones who choose to take the red pill, come along on our Matrix Tour to see what’s behind the Matrix’s coding to the real places in Sydney featured in the Matrix Trilogy, with most of the locations being from the first movie as the sequels mostly filmed on sound stages and didn’t use as much street locations, but watch out for the Agents.
Spoiler Alert: if you haven’t seen any of the Matrix movies before doing this tour, as you will have the plot spoiled on the tour. It is strongly recommended that you watch at least the first Matrix movie before doing this tour to better appreciate the tour. 80% of visitors to Hobbiton in New Zealand have NEVER seen any of the Middle Earth movies but appreciate the Hobbit Holes and gardens, but knowing the films gives you that extra insight and connection that other guests won’t have who haven’t seen the films, which is why watching or re-watching at least the 1999 Matrix movie is some homework to do before going on the tour.
