Meet the majestic Te Wheke face to face
Hit the harbour for an up-close encounter with Te Wheke-a-Muturangi: The Adversary. Created by the multi-disciplinary Māori artist Lisa Reihana and made from more than 1000 pieces, the floating, majestic Te Wheke-a-Muturangi sculpture will take up residence in Watermans Cove, gently animated by harbour breezes and shifting currents, bathed in sunlight and moonglow.
Darling Harbour Explorer, Sydney Festival Special: Sea Kayaking Tour – 1 hour, 30 minutes
Explore Darling Harbour and learn about the beautiful vessels of the Australian National Maritime Museum. Be guided out onto the 'working' harbour and experience Sydney from a completely new perspective, including an up-close visit to the magnificent Māori octopus, Te Wheke. Tours start at the HMAS Vampire Pavilion on the marina, Australian National Maritime Museum, Darling Harbour – and depart regularly throughout the day.

Wake up to the beauty of one of the world's most famous waterways on this early morning luxury kayak tour. Explore Darling Harbour, Cockle Bay, the Australian National Maritime Museum's stunning heritage fleet and, of course, pay a visit to Te Wheke. This tour includes historical commentary, hot tea or coffee and a light breakfast on the water.
