Join political activist and performance artist, Xiao Lu, with Passage Gallery Co-Director Ashleigh Jones, as they unpack key themes of the artist’s current exhibition ‘JUNK’ and her past history-making, genre-defining works.
The artist's work encompasses various mediums such as performance, installations, photography, videos, and paintings. Her sensitivity lies in her authentic experiences and her conscious standpoint.

About the artist
Xiao Lu (b.1962, Hangzhou, China) currently lives and works between Sydney and Beijing. She is a graduate of the Subsidiary School of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing and Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, Hangzhou. Lu is considered one of China’s most influential and provocative female artists and has exhibited at Tate, London; Guggenheim Museum, New York, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Lu sees performance art as a way of releasing internal conflict and negative emotions such as anger and hatred.
