Sydney Science Festival 2023: Art Therapy and The Brain

When

Wednesday 16 August 2023 from 10am to 12pm

The use of creative practice and science has been a long-standing approach to mental health and wellbeing.

Join a panel from the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development for an exploration ofneuroscience and art therapy. Led by Powerhouse Artistic Associate and visual artist Agatha Gothe-Snape, this discussion will examine the importance of art in therapy. Hear from Dr Nicole Peel, Dr Rachael Jacobs and Dr Genevieve Quek on community-led art projects and cognitive therapy with scientific research and evidence.

Senior Curator Katie Dyer will lead a guided tour through Powerhouse’s exhibition, A Line, A Web, A World, showcasing drawings from the museum’s collection and using this as a practical example of how drawing is a universal tool for communication across disciplines.

Free entry, bookings are essential.
