Sunday 18 September 2022 from 2pm to 3pm
Internationally renowned designer Nipa Doshi, the co-founder of Doshi Levien, joins Sydney Design Week 2022.
Alongside Jonathan Levien, Doshi creates work that transcends rational and functional qualities to imbue a sense of true inner beauty in their projects.
Doshi grew up in India and studied at the National Institute of Design. Her resulting practice is rooted in her plural upbringing and astute eye for visual culture. The layering of research, materiality, and the tactility of the Doshi Levien design process – painting, sculpting, colour making – results in work that is distinguished by a clarity of ideas and seemingly effortless attention to detail.
As the keynote speaker of Sydney Design Week 2022, Nipa Doshi will discuss the importance of cross-cultural perspectives in Doshi Levien’s work for leading manufacturers such as B&B Italia, Moroso, Kvadrat, Kettal and Cappellini as well as cultural institutions such as Sevres – Cité de la Céramique, and for their Paris-based gallery, Kreo.
Presented in partnership with Mobilia.
