Thursday 19 December from 7:30pm to 10:30pm
StratoFibre is a new band comprising multi-awarded experimental composer and guitarist Guy Strazz, and drummer Toby Hall.
They need no introduction as two highly creative musicians on the Australian jazz scene and beyond. Guy has released several albums on labels such as ABC jazz, Birdland, and Underscore. Between them, they have collaborated with players such as Dale Barlow, Don Burrows, Mike Nock, The catholics, Matt McMahon, Mike Stern, Slava Grygorian, Martin Taylor, Sandy Evans, and Vince Jones.
Fine bassist Fiona Lugg and inventive tenor saxophonist Brendan Berlach complete StratoFibre.
This new band thrives on rhythmic/melodic interplay and intuitive interaction often seeing the four players working solos in tandem. The music incorporates swing, Afro-Brazilian, and a few international grooves to several original works by Guy Strazz, as well as a few classics by Miles Davis, Jerome Kern, Charlie Mingus, Dave Brubeck, and Jobim.
"The Indo-jazz reinterpretation of Miles Davis’s All Blues is stunningly beautiful” – John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald
