Gypsy Swing Soirée is a regular gypsy jazz event held at Church Street Studios in Camperdown. Our next event will be on Saturday 31 May, at 2:30pm, with the Cameron Jones Trio joined by special guest vocalist Anna Weaving.
Anna Weaving is a celebrated performer known for her magnetic stage presence – she can have the entire dance floor moving in moments. A classically trained vocalist and accomplished multi-instrumentalist, Anna has released multiple successful recordings in Europe and collaborated with legendary jazz musicians worldwide. Fluent in several languages, she effortlessly connects with diverse audiences and delivers captivating performances.
Cameron Jones, a guitarist, composer, festival director, and educator, channels the vibrancy of authentic manouche jazz through his Selmer-style guitar, intertwining percussive rhythms with bright, expressive melodies. His annual pilgrimages to Europe, retracing Django Reinhardt's footsteps, garnered him unparalleled mentorship, enriching his repertoire with a rare depth of authenticity. In his performances across Australia, Jones captivates audiences with original narratives, infusing each piece with the unpredictable allure of gypsy jazz, keeping listeners on edge with dangerously spontaneous improvisations.
