opening event 1pm 15 April

After his show of plain air watercolours in 2022 Richard Collins returns to The Shop Gallery with oil paintings of still life and figures in interiors.

The figure paintings warmly depict family and friends in their homes, enriching the portraits by locating them in rooms that amplify the personalities of the sitters.

The still life paintings feature bright, boldly patterned fabrics, given to the artist by a friend who felt he and his painting needed a blast of intense colour after two drab Covid years.

Both the still life and interiors reflect the artist’s love of the intimate and decorative paintings of Eduard Vuillard, Pierre Bonnard, Fairfield Porter and David Hockney.
