Everyone is invited to join the fun and meet the team at our free open day.
Come and explore St Helen's Community Centre, enjoy talks, activities and a light lunch and hear from local community groups and organisations.
The day will include:
10am: Local history talk Learn about the history of St Helen's Community Centre, Benledi House and the original Sydney Hospital for sick children with local historian Max Solling from The Glebe Society.
10am to 1pm: Sustainability and waste pop-up stall Learn easy ways to reduce your waste. Ask our experts your recycling questions and find out how to recycle food scraps, blister packs, polystyrene and electronics.
11am: Zumba Gold This class is suitable for beginners, older adults or anyone who would like to join a slower paced, low impact dance party!
11am: Chair yoga Presented by JNC Junction Neighbourhood Centre (aged services), this class adapts a variety of poses that can be performed while seated in a chair.
12pm: Welcome and light lunch Hear what activities and events are on offer and St Helen's, have a chat to our staff and enjoy a bite to eat.
12pm: Music by Jay Dahzen Enjoy this acoustic performance over the lunch break
1pm: Drawing class During this 90 minute session you will learn a range of introductory drawing techniques to create your own self-portrait.
1.30pm: Quilting basics workshop During this 1 hour session you will learn how to cut, tack and sew together a basic hexagon. Make a couple to start your quilting journey.
2.30pm: Community gardens talk and tour presented by St Helens Community Gardeners
