The island of Sri Lanka is diverse with magnificent ancient cities, Buddhist caves, colonial enclaves and contemporary tropical architecture. Join Joyce Morgan in this lecture and explore Sri Lanka’s cultural riches and natural beauty from coastal charm and misty mountains to abundant wildlife. Ancient traders once visited for the island’s fragrant cinnamon, others built temples and sacred sites. The result is a unique and vibrant island which has enchanted travellers for millennia. 

Joyce Morgan is a journalist and author writing on arts and culture for 30 years. She is a former arts editor of The Sydney Morning Herald and aGetty Arts Journalism Fellow, and has worked as a journalist in London, Hong Kong and Sydney. She has travelled widely in Asia, including in Indonesia, East Timor, India, Pakistan, China and Bhutan, and has led the Art Gallery members’ tours to Java, Bhutan, Uzbekistan and China.
