Sign language course: Auslan level 2

Improve your work skills and enhance your communication abilities by learning to improve your Australian Sign Language (Auslan) with our sign language short courses online & in Sydney.

This Sign Language Level 2 course continues the unique and fun experience of communicating visually using Australian Sign Language (Auslan), the natural visual-gestural language used by the Australian Deaf Community, taught by Deaf teachers only.

If you want to learn Sign Language in Sydney, then this course is for you.

Please note that we currently offer two types of courses - in-person and online via Zoom.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this sign language course, you should have enhanced your career prospects by:

  • Use more advanced communication skills in Auslan

  • Use more advanced visual-gestural communication strategies

  • Cover more topics including occupations, suburbs, directions, families, time, appointments, countries and many more.

Intended audience

This course is specifically designed for students looking to upskill and further their knowledge of Australian Sign Language (Auslan). It is tailored for individuals who have successfully completed the Sign Language Course: Introduction to Auslan Level 1 with the Deaf Society.

Course venue

This course is currently offered online and face-to-face. Please ensure you check the course location when you enrol.

Face-to-face classes

Rozelle Campus

2A Gordon Street, Rozelle NSW 2039 (corner of Gordon Street & Victoria Road)

Online classes

Each week you get access to a brand new video with all the signs for the week, plus a live online class with a deaf teacher where you will practice your Auslan skills for 1-2 hours. Classes are run using Zoom, and you will need a laptop or desktop computer so that you can see everything clearly (no phones or tablets please).
