For our children to flourish, is often the singular focus of migrant families. But what does it really mean for our children and our communities to truly flourish?
让子女茁壮成长,往往是移民家庭最关心的事。但“绽放”对我们的子女和社区来说,到底意味着什么?
As part of Willoughby council’s Emerge Festival, a free community screening of 綻放 To Freely Flourish will be hosted at Willoughby City Library at Chatswood concourse with a special post-screening community conversation and wellbeing workshop, inspired by R U OK? Day, exploring themes of identity, belonging and care.
To Freely Flourish is a heart-warming story about a Chinese Australian family finding hope and connection against the turmoil of the 2017 marriage equality debate. The optimistic story has moved audiences in Australia and abroad at 2024 Beijing Queer Film Festival, 2025 St Kilda Film Festival in Melbourne, as well as various screenings across Sydney.
The workshop will be facilitated and conducted in English by Cedric Yin-Cheng, the co-founder of ANTRA (Australia & New Zealand Tongzhi Rainbow Alliance Inc.) and the filmmaker of 綻放 To Freely Flourish, Victor Wu.
Doors open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start. The workshop will run immediately after the screening.
Note, the same event will also take place in Mandarin on 2pm Saturday 27 September 2025. https://libraries.willoughby.nsw.gov.au/Eventbrite/To-Freely-Flourish-Film-screening-and-panel-discussion-in-Mandarin-1599009924729
