Science in the Swamp is returning to Loch Avenue South for an exciting day jam-packed full of science, fun and discovery for the whole family.

Unleash your inner scientist with hands-on, family-friendly science experiments and captivating displays. Get up close with native animals, chase giant bubbles, dipnet for pond creatures, learn bush survival skills or visit the pop-up ocean lab. Don’t forget to say hello to Ginger, the incredible life-sized roaming dinosaur!

 Meet real life scientists, geologists, zoologists, mathematicians and marine biologists as you visit over 30 awe-inspiring stalls and activity stations. It’s free to attend with food trucks, picnic areas and live shows – guaranteed science fun for adults and children alike!

Some highlights include:

  • Ask A.I. Science Show - Can an artificial intelligence algorithm write a spectacular science show?

  • Amelie Ecology Bee Song Show - Explore the curious ecology of soil microorganisms, blue-banded bees through music and song.

  • John’s Reptile Awareness - Snake display and show including advice for staying safe around snakes.

  • Bugs About - Learn to love creepy crawlies at the live bug display.

  • Australian Wildlife Display - Meet native furry, feathered and scaly friends at the wildlife display.

  • Sydney Institute of Marine Science - Science under the sea with a pop-up ocean lab.

Parking at Centennial Park is limited, so we strongly recommend taking public transport to get to Science in the Swamp:

  • Buses 333, 440, and 355 alighting at Oxford St. before York St., Bondi Junction (Stop 202260) then walk 1.2km to the destination

  • Lightrail L2 alighting at Royal Randwick (Stop 2031196) then walk 1.5km to the destination
