Part of Refugee Week

Refugee Week: Rahan's story

When

Friday 20 June from 10am to 12pm

Join us for a light lunch with guest speaker Rahan to celebrate Refugee Week.

Rahan is a member of the Rohingya community, from Myanmar and a Refugee Ambassador with the Refugee Council of Australia.

As a 16 year old, Rahan left is country in 2013, seeking safety and a better future due to discrimination he and his family faced because of their ethnicity. Today, Rohan works as a full-time mental health worker at Flourish Australia and is also a speaker for the Refugee Council of Australia.

This is a wonderful opportunity to hear Rahan's story and connect with one another over a light lunch.

We aim to deliver inclusive and accessible events. If you have any particular access or communication needs, please contact Amber Figura on 02 9265 9179 or email afigura@cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au

Bookings essential.

Refugee Week (15-21 June) is a celebration of the contributions refugees and people seeking asylum make in our communities. It also provides awareness of the issues affecting refugees and reminds us all about social cohesion.

The theme of this year's Refugee Week is Finding Freedom: Diversity in community. This theme emphasises the vital role community plays in all our lives, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, language, disability, sexuality and age.
