In this workshop, students will explore the portrait techniques of the Old Masters. We will examine how artists used colour, brushwork, and contrast to create compelling portraits.
Focus will be given to mixing flesh tones and capturing the features of the face. Jackson will discuss several artworks to highlight the technical and material aspects of historical portrait painting, followed by demonstrations and guided exercises.
Participants will work through studies in colour, facial structure, and a small copy of a master portrait.
Recommended for those with some painting experience but all welcome.
