At Digital Storytellers, we believe storytelling is one of the most powerful tools we have to create change. And we know that for filmmakers and creative professionals, the journey into purpose-driven work can feel like uncharted territory.

That’s why we’ve created Pathways to Purpose — a unique mentoring and professional development program designed to help you apply your craft to stories that make a difference.

This program, proudly supported by the City of Sydney, is your pathway into the world of impact storytelling — a space where ethics, sensitivity, and deep listening matter just as much as polish and pace.

Who is this for?

This program is for anyone ready to use their creative skills for good — whether you're a seasoned filmmaker or just starting out.

You might be:

  • An up-and-coming filmmaker looking to do more meaningful work

  • A professional photographer looking to get into filmmaking

  • A content creator eager to deepen your storytelling practice

  • A filmmaking student eager to work with real stories and lived experience, looking for guidance on where to begin.

If you feel the call to create stories that matter — stories that connect, empower and make change — this program is for you.

What will you get?

Real experience in purpose-driven storytelling.

This isn’t just theory — you’ll gain hands-on experience working with real stories, real communities, and real impact.

Throughout the program, you’ll:

  • Work on a live project with the support of experienced mentors

  • Learn how to shape, edit and elevate stories with care

  • Build confidence in your creative decisions and ethical practice

  • Gain insight into working with sensitive content and lived experience

  • Join a supportive community of creatives with shared values

You’ll walk away with practical tools, a deeper understanding of impact storytelling, and a piece of work you can be proud of.
