Sunday 4 June from 2:30pm to 3:30pm
What makes an artist's collection different to other private collections? How does it relate to their own art practice? What stories surround them?
Delmar Gallery's exhibition 'Singular Worlds: Artists' Art Collections' reveals three very distinct art collections: early Papunya painting and Himalayan sacred art, collected by Tim Johnson; Australian and international studio ceramics, collected by the late Merran Esson; and 1960s art posters and geometric abstraction, collected by Lynne Eastaway and the late Sydney Ball.
Join us to learn more about these collections and the artist's vision behind them.
Speakers: Lynne Eastaway, Tim Johnson, Louise Boscacci (Head of Ceramics, National Art School) and Kirsty Esson (daughter of the late Merran Esson). Moderated by Dr Alan Krell (art historian and author, former associate professor at UNSW School of Art & Design)
The panel discussion will run for approximately 40 minutes and will be followed by drinks with the artist collectors and light refreshments.
