'Peep Show' represents a deviation from the norm for Onnie O'Leary, who for this show presents a series of sculptural dioramas made from cardboard and found objects, quite different from the usual tattoos or prints.
Don't be too worried though! The dioramas depict erotic and private moments that invite the audience to investigate the shifting nature of subject and viewer or voyeur and exhibitionist. Found objects encourage audience participation and interaction with the work – but be warned! This exhibition is not for children.
Onnie O'Leary is a local artist, famous or infamous in local Facebook groups for their erotic stickers which have made their way into the public sphere. Their practice is widely varied, comprising tattoos, lithography, painting, illustration and now found object sculpture. Regardless of the medium the work is always sensual and invites a response!
