In Native Narrative, Emily Valentine presents a new series of meticulously crafted hybrid sculptures made from ethically sourced Australian native bird feathers. Combining her expertise as a feather worker and jeweller, Valentine creates new life forms that are both playful and unsettling.
Working exclusively with feathers collected from roadkill and naturally moulted birds, Valentine transforms familiar animal forms into imagined future species while prompting viewers to reconsider how we value the natural world. Blurring the boundaries between art, science and fantasy, Native Narrative invites reflection on the complex relationships between humans, animals and the environments we share.
